Do You Need a Roadworthy Certificate?
As at 2021, roadworthy certificates are required in Queensland for light vehicles. These are classified as any vehicle up to 4,500kg gross vehicle mass (GVM); or trailers and caravans with an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) in the range of 750kg – 3,500kg. You’ll need to schedule a safety inspection before being granted a certificate; which is required in each of the following circumstances:
- Selling a registered vehicle
- Re-registering a currently unregistered vehicle
- Transferring registration to a different person
- Transferring registration from interstate
